The Albuquerque Teachers Federation sponsors a series of symposia every year. The symposia are designed to be an opportunity for educators to get information and engage in conversations about “hot topics” that affect their professional practice and their lives.
Researchers, decision-makers and experts are invited to present at the ATF Symposia Series and engage with educators-not to present anyone’s party line, but to engage in critical dialogue.
Some of the topics the Symposia Series has addressed in the past include:
» No Child Left Bilingual
» Teach and Retire Rich
» Accountability Gone Awry: Measuring School Effectiveness in NM
» What’s the Big I.D.E.A.?
» Public Education Funding in New Mexico
» The Support & Related Services Career Pathway System
» What Happened to the ‘Childhood’ in Early Childhood?
Look for information about the “hot topics” for the 2008-2009 school year, to be held three times each semester, generally on the last Thursday of the month at 4:30*
