Slash 4: APS Faces Another $19M in Cuts
The Legislative Finance Committee announced that New Mexico's revenue projections are lower for this budget year, and as a result, more cuts are coming. Those cuts are projected to be $19 million for APS. The Albuquerque Teachers Federation will keep you informed as we know more, but one thing is clear... the real issue at hand is our legislature's lack of political will to
find a sufficient, STABLE funding source for public education!

Slash 4: APS Faces Another $19M in Cuts {continued}
A message to New Mexico's lawmakers: It is YOUR job; YOUR constitutional charge...PROVIDE A SUFFICIENT PUBLIC EDUCATION FOR NEW MEXICO'S CHILDREN! If any of the people who are in the Roundhouse right now will not do what is right for New Mexico's kids and public education, then WE NEED TO GET THEM OUT. The cuts are real, folks, and it's up to us--to each and every one of you--to step up, get involved, stop LETTING these things happen, and START MAKING THE RIGHT THINGS HAPPEN.
Click to find your lawmakers, and contact them today with the message: Stop the cutting! Get creative, think out of the box and solve our financial problems another way. Public schools, along with public safety and other public works and services are all needed for the good of the PUBLIC!
