The legislature adjourned after passing a budget last week. It includes approximately $233 Million in new tax revenue, but also cuts to public education. The cuts are just under 2%. Now it's up to the governor to sign or veto the budget and tax bills. He also needs to sign or veto bills from the regular session.

UPDATED 2/19/10 SPECIAL LEGISLATIVE SESSION BEGINS AT 12:00 ON WED. 2/24

No budget compromise was reached by the close of the regular session at noon on Thursday, Feb. 18th. Governor Richardson announced that the special session will begin next Wednesday - we need to keep up the pressure on lawmakers. It's unacceptable to make our state's kids take a back seat to big out-of-state corporations and other sources of revenue. As seen in the fall Sanderoff poll, voters don't want cuts to education. Call your lawmakers over the next week, and send emails as well. STOP CUTTING, FIND FUNDING!
